The sisters, recently arrived from England, attend a school Halloween party. Sue is eager to get there, Meg is resentful and hostile. There, Meg runs afoul of the school bully. They flee home, take a shortcut through a broken-down fence along Horse Hollow Road - and find themselves in danger of a much worse kind. . . .

note: this, my first published book, is set in my old neighbourhood, ruined cottage, broken-down fence and all. Nostalgic note: leg warmers were the rage then.
